How can education create a better world?

The Quaker Education Conference at Bootham School saw 150 young people and educators gather together in York on Saturday June 10th to consider the question ‘How can education create a better world?’ These students, predominantly Y12, represented 29 different schools from the state and independent sectors in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland as well as including delegations from France, Germany, the Philippines, India and Palestine. They were challenged and inspired by a diverse programme including six expert speakers as they worked together to create a call to action for educational change that would enable them and their peers of the future to create a better world.

What’s happening next?

The students have produced a ‘Call to Action’ and have presented this at The Big Tent Festival in York on 17 June 2023.

They will now use the feedback and results of meetings at the Festival to develop their Call to Action into a Manifesto for Education.
